Governor Christie Visits Paulsdale in Mount Laurel for Bill Signing

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego and Assistant Assembly Republican Leader Scott Rudder praised today’s signing of legislation by Governor Chris Christie that authorizes the funding of important historic preservation projects across New Jersey.

“In a state that has seen so much new development in recent years, it’s easy to forget that New Jersey is also home to some of the oldest and most historic sites in the nation,” said Senator Addiego. “To look at these places, which include churches, homes, farms, factories, libraries and buildings built over hundreds of years, is really to look at the history of America. It’s important that we provide the resources to preserve this history for future generations.”

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego (R-8) issued the following statement today following the Democrats attempt to override Governor Chris Christie’s budget vetoes and spend an additional $900 million that the state does not have:

“The last time I checked¬†deficit spending is illegal in New Jersey! It is irresponsible and unacceptable to continue to push forward with false hope and tell people we can fund hundreds of millions of dollars worth of programs when the money¬†simply is not there.”

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego (R-Burlington) issued the following statement today following the Senate passage of the Democrat-sponsored Fiscal Year 2012 State Budget:

“This irresponsible budget spends $1.2 billion more than Governor Christie intended. It increases taxes and relies on extremely unrealistic revenue projections. Rather than gimmicks and creative accounting maneuvers, New Jersey taxpayers deserve smaller, more efficient government.”

“New Jersey needs a disciplined, long-term approach to position New Jersey for economic growth and job creation. Higher taxes and increased spending will hinder any hope at a recovery.”

Another Law-Abiding Driver Has Died on Burlington County Roads in Accident Involving Illegal Alien Driving a Company Truck

“It is a tragedy that could have been prevented,” said Assemblyman Scott Rudder of yet another fatal traffic accident in Burlington County involving an illegal, unlicensed immigrant driver. “We have introduced bills to protect New Jersey drivers from this kind of callous disregard for our laws, but the Democrat leadership in the legislature has ignored them.”

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego, Assemblyman Rudder, and Assemblyman Pat Delany are sponsors of three bills that address the growing problem of illegal aliens behind the wheel, like the one driving a landscape company truck pulling a trailer who has been charged with causing death by automobile after a crash that killed a motorcyclist in Bordentown.

Refers to Legislation as “Victory for Taxpayers”

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego (R-Burlington) issued the following statement today after the Senate passed S-2937, comprehensive public pension and benefit reform legislation:

“Passage of today’s historic legislation is a victory for taxpayers who will no longer be expected to fund unsustainable public employee benefits that they themselves do not receive in the private sector. Public employees who care about our state and understand that major reforms are necessary to save the pension system have taken a realistic view of the problem at hand and support the measure as well.

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego, Assemblyman Scott Rudder and Assemblyman Pat Delany expressed outrage today after the New Jersey Supreme Court ruled that an additional $500 million must be spent on the chronically failing school districts formerly known as Abbott Districts.

“Suburban taxpayers should be appalled by this ruling! The court has declared that suburban parents who are already paying twice for education, for their own children and for students in the urban districts, now must shoulder the burden of another $500 million,” said Senator Addiego.

Tax-Paying Residents Deserve Better Use of Their Hard-Earned Money

Legislation withholding the state operating aid of any public or independent college enrolling students who are not lawfully present in the United States will be introduced by Senator Dawn Marie Addiego, Assemblyman Scott Rudder and Assemblyman Pat Delany.

“Hard-working, tax-paying Americans, who follow the rules, are struggling to pay their fair share and to educate their own children. The use of taxpayers’ money for the benefit of people who refuse to follow the rules is unacceptable,” said Assemblyman Rudder.

The bill, which Senator Addiego will introduce in the Senate on Monday, specifies that institutions of higher education shall not be eligible to receive State operating aid in any fiscal year in which students, determined not to be lawfully present in the country, are enrolled.
