Twenty 8th District Towns Will Receive Money Based on 2010 Tonnage Recycled, Not Funneled to Landfills

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego, Assemblyman Scott Rudder and Assemlbyman Chris Brown today lauded word that the Department of Environmental Protection is releasing more than $317,000 in grants to 20 municipalities in the 8th District for continue and improve recycling programs.

“Residents of our towns have embraced recycling, with the benefit of saving our landfills from an incredible amount of refuse. These grants awards provide tax relief for our municipalities add a tangible value to these efforts,” said Senator Dawn Marie Addiego.

Commission Oversees Allocation of Funds for Healthcare, Transportation & Housing Programs for Senior & Disabled Residents

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego (R-8) has been appointed as a member of the Casino Revenue Fund Advisory Commission. The 15 member commission, which includes four legislators, provides recommendations to the New Jersey Legislature on the utilization of a portion of casino revenues dedicated to programs for senior and disabled residents.

“One of the reasons New Jersey established gaming was to generate new sources of income that could be reinvested in our communities to improve the lives of our residents,” said Addiego. “It’s an honor to have been appointed to the Commission where I will have the opportunity to make important decisions on how best to fund healthcare, transportation and housing services for New Jersey residents in need.”

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego today introduced a Senate Resolution condemning Congressman Todd Akin for his indefensible comments about rape, and calling for him to withdraw as a candidate for the U.S. Senate in Missouri.

“As a woman and the mother of a daughter, I am deeply offended by the insensitivity and lack of understanding demonstrated in Mr. Akin’s indefensible remarks,” said Senator Addiego. “He has demonstrated a level of ignorance that makes him unsuitable to represent America’s women in the Senate.”

Senate Approves Addiego Bill Creating Email Notification System for Flag Lowering

The New Jersey Senate has approved legislation sponsored by Senator Dawn Marie Addiego (R-8) that would create an email notification system to let people know when the Governor orders flags to be flown at half-staff.

“We fly the flags of the United States of America and the State of New Jersey at half-staff at times to honor, mourn and remember,” said Senator Addiego. “It’s important that we have the means to notify people when to lower their flags and explain why we’re doing it.”

Fully Equipped Trailer Will Be Utilized by Pemberton Community Response Team Volunteers

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego, Assemblyman Scott Rudder and Assemblyman Chris Brown (all R-8) today welcome the announcement that the Pemberton Township Community Emergency Response Team will be the recipient of a new fully equipped Flood Response Trailer from the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management.

“Many communities in our area have been hit by storm-related flooding in recent years,” said Senator Addiego. “This trailer, in the capable hands of CERT volunteers, will assure a quicker, more effective response if our area suffers another flood emergency.”
