Senator Dawn Marie Addiego, Assemblyman Scott Rudder and Assemblyman Chris Brown lauded word that the Lumberton Township School District will receive almost $80,000 in grants from the New Jersey School Development Authority.

“These are important and necessary improvements to the schools, and the partnership between local and State funding helps make the projects more affordable for township residents,” said Senator Addiego. “These are projects that can cost more down the road, and we are very pleased the work will be done now, with 40 percent of the cost borne by the State.”

S-1755 Establishes New Jersey Adult Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Act

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego’s bill protecting dementia patients and their guardians advanced out of committee today with unanimous bipartisan support. S-1755 establishes uniform procedures for addressing interstate conflicts regarding adult guardianship issues. Identical Assembly bill 2628 is sponsored by Assemblyman Scott Rudder and Assemblyman Chris Brown.

“Guardianship cases stretching beyond state boundaries raise questions about jurisdiction, laws and rights in today’s mobile society,” said Senator Addiego. “This legislation provides desperately necessary protections for seniors and their adult guardians, and clarifies the jurisdiction of the state court in guardian issues.”

Legislation introduced by Senator Dawn Marie Addiego would eliminate the possibility of parole for anyone convicted of the murder of a minor under the age of 18 in the course of a sex crime.

“The most heinous crime imaginable should have the most severe punishment possible,” said Senator Addiego. “A life sentence with no possibility of parole is justified since we do not have the death penalty available to us in New Jersey.”

Almost $200,000 of Taxpayer Money Has Paid Half the Salary for Full-Time Local Union President’s Salary in Last 5 Years

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego, Assemblyman Scott Rudder, and Assembly Chris Brown today called on the Pemberton Township Education Association to return almost $200,000 to the school district after the State Commission of Investigation reported the money paid half the salary for the full-time employment of the local union president.

“Pemberton is one of the high-needs districts receiving enormous levels of state aid, mandated by the State Supreme Court to provide for the ‘thorough and efficient’ education of the township’s children. This year alone, $80 million is being poured into the Pemberton schools, and to learn that some of that taxpayer money is being used to pay for a union administrator is intolerable,” said Assemblyman Chris Brown. “Not a single dime of this money helps foster better education or assists our teachers.”

8th District legislators Introduced Concurrent Resolution and Requested President Sweeney and Speaker Oliver to Post for Floor Vote on March 15

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego, Assemblyman Scott Rudder and Assemblyman Chris Brown have introduced concurrent resolutions today which press for an independent State agency representing consumers to actively pursue a $45 million decrease in water rates from New Jersey American Water Company.

More pointedly, the bipartisan resolutions call on the New Jersey Division of Rate Counsel to abandon its admitted current negotiations on the company’s request for a 20 percent increase — which could lead to yet another rate increase.

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego, Assemblyman Scott Rudder and Assemblyman Chris Brown (all R-8) have introduced legislation that will breathe life into the economy and help more New Jersey families become homeowners.

“In today’s environment, FHA is the No. 1 loan program in the country. There are first-time buyers who are ready to purchase condos and townhouses, but FHA is the only entity that will let you put down 3 percent to buy a house,” said Senator Addiego. “Without timely cooperation from the associations, these mortgages can not be approved, and the sale falls through.”

Senator Dawn Marie Addiego:

“Governor Christie’s budget cuts taxes on every family in New Jersey, and continues to promote business expansion and job creation in our state. We are establishing a competitive advantage over our neighboring states, and New Jersey residents will reap the benefits.

“I applaud Governor Christie for putting forward a plan that will produce significant savings for taxpayers. The Governor’s plan to cut income taxes across the board will put more money back into workers’ paychecks, and his proposal to increase education aid to our schools will produce property tax savings for homeowners.”
